We searched a better and standard way for you to iron seam when quilting. Try to follow this way if you want a unique quilt for you.

Iron to the dark side of the fabrics:

When you stitch two fabric pieces, check which part of the fabric has a darker side. After recognizing the dark side, presses this side with iron.

Press seam of the quilt:

The next step that needs to follow is to press your seam of the quilt. You should press the seam with a hot iron, which will help you to set the stitches at the proper place.

Make crease of Seam:

Now, you need to gently press the open side of the seam with your little finger for making a crease of the seam. In this way, you can crease the fabric without the support of hot iron. It is better in one way because hot iron can cause stretching of your fabrics.

Set the Seam open with Heat:

On completion of the creasing of your seams with your finger, try heat for further creasing. People think that it is enough, and they stop the iron seam when quilting.

But it is not the endpoint while you are following our standard way, two more steps you need to follow for amazing results.

Try to develop steam on-seam:

There is another step for better pressing the seam; you need to use a hot iron, but after spraying the fabric with water. After that, press it with the help of hot iron forcefully; it will make your crease life forever.

Make steam cool:

It’s time to close your job now; you need to make it cool under clapper. You do not need to press it hard; you can gently press it with your hands for a short moment and then remove the clapper. All is over now; you have a good quality seam for the quilt.

Final Words:

There is no specific way to iron the seam for quilting; it varies from person to person and project to project.

With our research, we have provided you a standard way followed by experts; it will help you to iron your seams for quilting. Thanks to reading our article about the Standard way to iron seams when quilting. Visit online to know more information.
