How to Use Free Classified Ads to Sell Items

April 13, 2021 By //  by Soham Palmer

Many underestimate the power of classified ads when selling items over the internet. The first website someone thinks about when selling something online is eBay. However, it can become quite beneficial to you if you know and understand what other alternatives are available. You don’t have to feel limited to selling your products through an auction format. Auction format selling can work out fantastic for most, but classified ads can work out just as well.

There are several high traffic classified websites where you can place an ad for free. These websites are a great alternative to eBay, primarily because they are free. You won’t have to worry about listing fees, reserve prices, etc. Keep in mind, your market will be much smaller than what eBay sellers have, but you can do no harm by advertising to internet shoppers who just may not enjoy the eBay shopping experience.

It is important that you write your ads in a professional manner and place them in the correct categories. The worst thing you can do is advertise your item in the wrong category. Buyers shopping around for toy cars will have a difficult time finding your ad if you post it in the teddy bear directory. It is very important that you list as much details as possible. The more information you can provide the better.

I have created a list of websites below where you have the ability to sell products for free. Take the time to browse through each site and find out which one works best for you. Some of the sites are geared toward selling products locally, while others can work for just about any market, nationwide. Be sure that you read through each website’s guidelines before posting ads. You’ll find your selling experience much easier if you understand how each classified ad site works.

Free Classified Ads

KiwiAds.co.nz

This website is a fantastic resource for selling a wide variety of products. I personally had had much luck in the past with listing certain collectibles. KiwiAds.co.nz allows you to post free classified ads, and also gives you the option of creating a free store to sell your products in. There is a wide selection of categories for both buyers and sellers, which really improves the whole experience. Sellers can list 60 day ads, and renew for free if necessary. No membership fees, no transaction fees, and no limit as to how many ads you can place. You can improve your ads buy uploading images at no cost. This website is very easy to use for both buyers and sellers.

Domesticsale

If you are seeking to place a basic, simple ad, Domesticsale might be what you are looking for. The site has a variety of free and paid options when you begin listing your products. You can place standard classified ads for no charge. These free listings are very basic. Choosing the free option will limit you to a text only listing. If you are interested in adding additional options, including photos, there are extra charges.

EPage Classifieds

Another site to place basic classified ads for free is EPage. Like Domesticsale, you have the option to add features for an extra cost. The website offers a variety of categories for buyers and sellers.

USFreeads

Selling products on USFreeads.com is very easy. The website has a large group of loyal members who post free ads as well as premium ads. By choosing to list your ad for free, you’ll be limited to a basic listing without photos. Again, this may be a great option if you are interesting in selling something basic. Your goal is to attract attention of the buyer. This website can produce positive results if used correctly. Always list your ads at USFreeads with as most details as possible.

Craigslist

Many are quite familiar with Craiglist. The website receives a large amount of traffic each day. If you are looking to sell something quickly, Craigslist might be the better option for you. Here you can list things for free, with photos, and even link to your own website if you are selling additional products. You will want to be sure and read the posting guidelines at Craigslist. The website can earn you substantial amounts of money if used in the correct way.

Although these are only a few websites that offer free classified listings, you just may come across others that produce decent results. Professional and thorough listings are a key factor when it comes to selling your items. Always remember that you aren’t limited to eBay auctions. There is large amount of buyers on the internet outside of the eBay marketplace.
