How-To-Measure-Calf Size For Compression Sleeve

March 23, 2021 By //  by Soham Palmer

Only a good calf size measurement can ensure the best compression sleeve to wear. Unmatched compression sleeve size with calf make you’re wearing irritating and uncomfortable. You can take measurements yourself before buying the compression sleeve. The average size is 38 cm, but you should get the size that is suitable for you.

We think there is no problem with size because they are stretchable and become fit on any size. But if your calf has a large size, it will make your compression sleeve tight and irritate. While the large size then your calf will make your compression sleeve lose and uncomfortable, there is no need to worry; we have simple ways to help you make the correct measurement of calf size for a compression sleeve.

How Can You Measure Calf Size For Compression Sleeve?

When you need to measure calf size for a compression sleeve, follow these simple steps and get an accurate measurement.

  • First of all, you need to stay balanced and relaxed, sit at some flat place, and make your measurement task simpler. Suppose you are sitting on an uneven surface, which will unbalance your body. Sit down on the flat surface and then place your feet flat on the floor, but keep your calve relaxed do not make it stretch.
  • Now take the measuring tape and wrap the tape around your calf, but make sure you have selected the thicker portion of your calf. First, make a check and select the thicker and wider portion of your calf. Then round the measuring tape around your calf wider portion, but keep the tape relaxed and not stretch it too much; otherwise, your measurement will be less than the right measurement, and the compression sleeve will become too tight.
  • Measure both calves one by one to the nearest one centimeter; it would help you take measurements by keeping the tape a little bit loose. You can check it by entering your fingering between your calves and measuring tape; it will be comfortable to wear if you leave one finger space between the tape and calf.
  • You may also find a little difference in both calves’ measurements; sometimes left calf measurement is lower than the right calf. Commonly, the people who are dominant on the right side have thick parts such as legs, arms, and hands than the left side. People dominant with the left side have thicker legs, hands, and arms on the left side. No need to worry if there is a difference between the measurement of right and left calves.
  • To ensure the best fit, always round the measurement with the nearest even number; for example, measurement is 37 cm, then you should round it to 38 cm.
