This is my first post on 2013 and wanted it to be something special. So for all you party event organisers, party supply owners or fancy dress owners, this will unlock the box on some top secret link building techniques. Well I say top secret they are just common sense but hugely effective at getting vast amounts of safe links to your site.

So let’s crack on!.

Blog Posts For Links

Content is king! Everyone says it but many do not understand it. Putting out reams of reams of garbage is not content. Quality content tells a story and engages its readers and if you are lucky can gain interest about your site for FREE with some very influential people.

Let’s look at some examples.

Here is a blog post by influential Blog Today’s Mama where they feature AU party supplies store Speckled Freckle. Now you’re saying they paid for this link or I could never get into a blog like this, I don’t have the influence. Well you would be very much mistaken.

You know how Speckled Freckle got this link through an image. Through the Milky Way teddy bear racing care image they placed on Pinterest. How do I know this? Read the Blog post in the first paragraph she clearly states how she came across the image:-

Pinterest is such a game changer.  If I wasn’t so into Pinterest, I would have missed these adorable little Milky Way Cars from The Speckled Freckle Party Place.  Look at the cute M&M tires!  And seriously, what would my son’s first birthday extravaganza (seven months from now) be like if I hadn’t found these little cars?  Im telling you.  JUST NOT THE SAME.  I can’t WAIT to make these!!”

So basically this image was pinned on Pinterest and there the image found its way onto this influential blog. It’s that easy. In fact this image is featured in quite a few blog posts with a link back to speckled frog every time.

So what do you need to do to recreate this and gain interest? Well if you are not already blogging then get started and if you don’t have social media buttons on this blog to all the popular social media sites get this too! If you want to see what I mean check out http://www.addthis.com

In order for your content to get picked up and possibly used you are going to need engaging content. You can see why the milky bar racing car got picked up because 1)It’s cute 2)They are really good photo’s.

Let’s have a look at another example:-

Another influential blog http://www.simonemadeit.com/2012/03/07/race-car-party-sams-4th-birthday-party/ features the same milky bar cars and a link back to the speckled frog site.

So here is what you need to do:-

1) Ideas - Write down some ideas for intriguing, helpful and engaging articles. If you’re a party organiser take pictures (more on this in a bit) of an event you are putting on coming together. Take pictures in stages of how you came up with ideas for theme parties, where you go the supplies from etc (linking to suppliers will automatically get you some Kudos and probably a link back too). Tell a story.

2) Images – Make sure the images are top notch. No blurry photo’s or poor quality images. If you have the budget for it, hire a photographer. Remember you want these images to be shared.

3) Blog about it. Use these photos in a story board way. Tell your audience about how exciting it was to come up with the ideas and the reception it got from your clients, maybe include a testimonial or two.

4) Social Media buttons – Place social media buttons on your blog and make sure you Like, Tweet, +1 the article. Also make sure you pin the photos on Pinterest and Instagram.
